I love teaching and tutoring children of all ages, and have been working in the field of education for six years, including doctoral coursework in education.
I am currently in my fourth year as a preschool Head Teacher, and am excited to work with older students navigating their academic journeys. I have an extensive background in early literacy experience, and worked as a literacy coach at PS 256 in Brooklyn. I have also coordinated a weekly Homework Help tutoring session for middle school students at a Charter School in Brooklyn. Additionally, I have tutored PSAT and SAT prep with the Arab-American Family Support Center in Brooklyn. I continually take on private college writing coaching clients at the undergraduate and graduate level.
From the ages of 2 to 22, I easily connect with young people through humor, empathy, and generosity. I love helping others, and with such a dynamic background working with all sorts of people, I'm able to create routes of learning to accommodate all sorts of learning styles and personality interests.
I believe in making tutoring applicable to everyday life, and individualized to each student, so that it becomes 'real'. I am very creative resourceful about bringing in outside materials to thicken a student's connection to the curriculum at hand. For example, in SAT prep, I may have a student read a chapter from Junot Diaz's 'The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao', because its content piques the interest of teenagers while also utilizing sophisticated vocabulary words.
I love tutoring because of the special relationships I build with students-- knowing each other personally and intellectually-- that allow me to share my academic skills so that she/he can succeed in each and every way that she/he desires.
I love problem-solving and relating mathematical concepts to applied everyday life. My GRE quantitative score was 760 out of 800.
I would love to hear about your tutoring goals and how I could help you get there! I love teaching and tutoring children of all ages, and have been working in the field of education for six years, including doctoral coursework in education.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
