Seton Hall University (Master's)
I have worked with students from Kindergarten through Grade 8 and have the ability to relate to students of all ages. Patience and compassion have been the keys to my career and are essential to any successful teaching career. I have the innate ability to get through to students and help them enjoy the process of learning. I accomplish this through understanding the student and what he or she needs. I am extremely dedicated to the vocation of teaching and I can be an asset to your student.
With a family history of educators, I was motivated to work with children. Having strong teachers leaving a positive impression on me, the importance of teaching and learning were instilled in me at a young age. Last year, I was employed by the Essex Regional Educational Services Commission as an instructional aide who provided remedial instruction and in-class support to classified students. I was also my school's Middle School Religion teacher. With my remaining time, I was an assistant teacher in my school's Kindergarten. My goal in teaching is not limited to the classroom; I am also interested in the opportunity to possibly change a student's life.
I have experience proctoring, grammar-related work and test my students on a weekly basis.
In my classroom I teach and reaffirm spelling words with my students on a daily and weekly basis. They receive thirty words a week to study and test on. Any words that are marked incorrect on the test will then be written with the coinciding definition five times in their journals. This helps the students to gain an understanding of the meaning and gain a capacity to retain the spelling of a large pool of new terms.
I received my Bachelor's in History from Seton Hall University. History has always been my passion and I consider myself a scholar in the field.
If you want a fun, enthusiastic learning experience I am the teacher for you. It is my goal to not only help my students flourish academically but also succeed in all aspects of their future. Knowledge is power and providing the opportunity to my students to have the key to succeed is my ultimate goal. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As a fourth grade teacher, I teach grammar on a daily basis.
I am a fourth grade teacher. As part of the curriculum for that grade, I give my students 20 spelling words a week, with tests occurring every Friday.
