Following a 15 year professional career working with the expatriate team at a French bank in New York City, and over 30 years learning and studying French for personal enrichment, I now enjoy devoting my time to tutoring as a member of the WyzAnt network.
Most classroom instruction cannot address the specific learning curve of each and every student. My technique is gentle, thorough, and designed to succeed. Whether you are a student doing well in every subject except French, or whether you enjoy your French classes but need more intense study and review in order to excel, I can help you to stop stressing over homework assignments and reduce your pre-exam anxiety. Regina is helping my daughter to study for her French III Final. They played the French equivalent of Simon Says to review body parts. Regina covered pronunciation, grammar, and lesson 17 in one hour. Thank you very much!
I was looking for someone to calmly work with me every week to help me become more confident and educated with French, and Regina is doing just that. She takes the extra step to make sure we have a thorough and complete session together. She is EXTREMELY patient and really cares about the success of her students. She creates study sheets on her own time for us to go over at lessons and for me to take home as well.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a superior command of the English language through education and life experience. Four years of Latin, and a lifetime study of foreign language has enriched my knowledge of vocabulary and grammar. As a substitute teacher, I have current experience in helping students to understand the subject matter.
A lifelong interest in French and 15 years working closely with the French expatriate community in NYC has given me a thorough understanding of the French language and culture. My approach to teaching and tutoring is to focus on problem areas, identify specific needs and make learning fun. I can help a student prepare for exams, or give travelers the confidence they need to express themselves without fear.
