BS (Science Education)
I have been an educator for 30+ years and now prefer to provide individual instruction / tutoring. Although I am retired from teaching I do not want to give up a profession which I hold in high regard. I am a natural communicator who can connect with even the most difficult student. I am comfortable teaching at any grade level but prefer K-8.
I have a BS in Science Education and I am a certified teacher. I have successfully used a creative approach in my classroom for years. I have utilized varied teaching strategies. This has enabled me to connect to students with individual learning styles. I have a wide range of experience in the Elementary Science Curriculum with a focus on General Science and Biology, Grades K - 8th. Through my teaching career I have gained experience teaching Standardized Test Comprehension by way of vocabulary strategies.
One of the most fulfilling aspects of my career has been tutoring students to help increase their comprehension levels. I would enjoy continuing this as a personal tutor. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently teaching Science (Life Science, Biology and Physical Science) for the Juvenile Justice Commission in High Bridge. I will evaluate your child and formulate a teaching strategy that fits their needs.
I have a BS in Science Education and I am a certified teacher. Throughout my career I have maintained a strong interest in Field Botany. My Science Classroom has many varied plant species which I use in class lessons. I teach both natural and ornamental species of plant life.
I have been playing chess for 20+ years. As a teacher I organized and officiated many student Chess tournaments. I moderated a Chess Club at our high school. I currently moderate a Chess club with the county library.

I began my career as an Interpretive Naturalist teaching Wild Life Zoology to middle school students. I have maintained a strong interest in Wild Life Zoology throughout my career. I have organized Zoology programs with Raptor Trust (Millington NJ) in which students received hands on experience with Birds of Prey.
