About Leslie

I am a certified Biological Science teacher. I have 4 years of combined teaching experience. Currently I am teaching biology and environmental science in Spotswood High School. I also taught biology and anatomy for 2 years in North Bergen High School. Along with teaching, I am coaching cross country and track. I specialize in any running and jumping events (long, triple and high jump).

I live in Belmar, and I would like to extend myself to any students who are having trouble in biology or the life sciences (microbiology, anatomy, physiology, and genetics) and anyone who wants to get a good workout in. I graduated from Rutgers University where I double majored in biology and exercise science. I did exceptionally well in college and actually graduated with the honors distinction. While at Rutgers I helped with research in the exercise science lab.

Contact me if you need extra help or if you need someone to motivate and train you. I am happy to help.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Fitness

I have a degree in Exercise Science from Rutgers University and for a brief time I was a trainer at Bally's. I abandoned training so I could become a teacher. I have been teaching Biology and coaching track and field for 4 years.
I love to run. I have been a runner for a majority of my life. I competed at Rutgers University at the D1 level and I honestly miss the challenges the competition brought me.
When working out I love to combine aerobic and anaerobic exercises in a cross-fit manner in order to challenge whoever is working out. I know a lot about plyos exercise, technique for lifting and muscle targeting exercises.
It would be a privilege to coach and train you to compete in anything you want to accomplish. Whether it be your first 5k or loosing some weight.

Genetics

As a Rutgers student, I took 2 electives in genetics. I took the general genetics course where we learned about the basics in the subject area. These include transcription, translation, replication, gene mapping, genetic linkage, total dominance, incomplete dominance, codominance, monohybrid crosses, dihybrid crosses, polygenic traits, DNA fingerprinting, gel electrophoresis, southern blotting and so much more.

I also took an advanced course in genetics where we looked at current research that was going on in genetics. We broke down each sentence into the advanced techniques that current geneticists were utilizing. I have a love and fascination with genetics.

Track & Field

I have a degree in Exercise Science from Rutgers University and for a brief time I was a trainer at Bally's. I abandoned training so I could become a teacher. I have been teaching Biology and coaching track and field for 4 years.
I love to run. I have been a runner for a majority of my life. I was a varsity competitor at Rutgers University (Division I). I miss the challenges the competition brought me. I mainly ran the mile in track and I was a member of the cross country team.
Now that I am coaching, I believe I have found my main passion in life. I know the struggles that come with competition and I use my past knowledge to guide my athletes through the trials and tribulations that come with competing. A majority of the training in track is mental. My main job is to enable my athletes to be confident and self assured. I trigger this confidence each and every time I speak with my athletes. I make them buy in to their training. This in turn helps them to believe in me and ultimately to believe in themselves.
Track is not just about preparing mentally, an athlete also has to work hard on the track and in the weight room. I have a wide knowledge of training techniques on and off the track. I use my background in exercise science and my trainer-based techniques to challenge my athletes.
It would be a privilege to coach and train you to compete and accomplish all your goals.
