Georgian Court University (Psychology)
Richard Stockton State College (now Stockton University) (Enrolled)
I am a recent graduate of Georgian Court University (GCU) with a B.A in Psychology and two (2) NJ teaching certifications in Preschool Through 3rd Grade and Students With Learning Disabilities. I taught Pre-K for a year upon completing college and am looking for a teaching job in a public school district. Within my classroom as a Pre-K students I have had experience with working with children with exceptionalities such as gifted and talented, reading and math SLD's, ADHD and autism. My main goal as a Pre-K teacher was to prepare my students academically (cognitively), socially and emotionally for elementary school.
Though my working teaching experience has been limited to Pre-k, my student teaching requirement for GCU's teacher program was completed amongst two 3rd grade classes; one class was a general inclusive classroom and the other was a self-contained special education classroom in which I gained a tremendous amount of hands-on experience working with children with a variety of needs similar to my Pre-K classroom only at a higher level.
I have tutored for about three years now and have decided to get more professional and use this site to reach out to more clients with more ease on both ends. The thing I love most about being a tutor is working one on one with children and seeing their face light up when they understand content that they have been struggling with. It brings joy to my life when I could help ease the anxiety of the high expectations that school puts on young children. My idea of tutoring is to bring joy to learning with a fun, easy and positive learning experience.
As a psychology major at GCU, I excelled in all my courses and have a great knowledge of all fields of psychology ranging from educational psychology all the way to psychology statistics and even psychopathology. I also know the best study techniques when it comes to acing an exam!
English is one of my strengths as an educator and during my experience as an educator, I have gained many resourceful techniques and tools for not only very young children just learning how to write but also elementary school years when students are given essay writing assignments.
I am very familiar with the common core and how to incorporate them into fun activities and learning opportunities.
All areas of elementary school subjects are very exciting and of expertise for me. I use a lot of hands-on manipulatives and experiments for math and science during tutoring and for reading and writing also. My educational background as an early childhood education student has given me the skills to produce fun, meaningful activities to learn concepts that might be more abstract for your child to learn in school.
I possess a Teacher of Students With Disabilities certification through the state of New Jersey that has provided me the resources and tools to better serve children with disabilities such as ADHD, autism, hearing impairments, visual impairments, dyslexia, processing disorders, math and reading learning disabilities and additional special needs.
Please feel free to contact me to set up an appointment to set you up with tutoring that you will not forget! Hello all,
