About Hussein

My main motivation for tutoring is that I love teaching and interacting with the students. I strongly believe in the importance of education in a society, and teaching has provided me with my most rewarding professional experiences. The knowledge and experience I accumulated as a PhD researcher, university professor, and practitioner in the industry is valuable only if it is shared.
For over three decades, I have been working in the field of research and development of microelectronics. I have also taught, during this period, Math, Physics and electrical engineering courses at several universities. This enabled me to create tutoring techniques to teach the students the basis of the subject and to show the students that the fields of electrical and computer engineering, Math and Physics are interesting, relevant and fun. A student who is curious and interested in the subject is easy to teach, but unfortunately not all students arrive to the classroom in this state of mind. It is the responsibility of the teacher to represent the subject in an interesting and engaging manner that shows the elegance and beauty of electrical and computer engineering, Math and Physics as well as its applicability to solving concrete and real-world problems and to nurture each student’s latent desire to learn.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 2

I have taught Algebra II at Fairleigh Dickinson University for several semesters. I am also very familiar with the subject by practice. I used algebra as a tool in research in the field of microelectronics, at IBM and Rutgers University, to solve linear equations in n unknowns to achieve n- and p- MOS device designs which meet required performance/reliability trade-off.

Computer Engineering

Hussein received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, in 1976. He has been working in the field of microelectronics research and development since 1970. After working for several Corporations including Control Data Corporation, Bell Telephone Laboratories and Intel Corporation, he joined IBM T.J. Watson research center in 1978 where he was a research staff member until his retirement in 2006. In IBM, he conducted research projects which encompassed different aspects of the microelectronics field including VLSI circuit design and modeling, logic, DRAM and EEPROM technology development; MOSFET device design. Dr. H. also taught integrated circuit design and semiconductor device physics courses at Dartmouth College, University of Minnesota, King Saud University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Rutgers University and IBM. He has also supervised several graduate student Theses at MIT, Delft University, Pace University, University of Utah and King Saud University.

Differential Equations

I have taught DE at Rutgers University as part of three courses, Principles of Electrical Engineering I, II and Power Electronics during the period 2005 to 2014. I am also very familiar with the subject by practice. I used DE as a tool in research in the field of microelectronics, at IBM and Rutgers University, to solve several semiconductor problems.

Electrical Engineering

Hussein received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, in 1976. He has been working in the field of microelectronics research and development since 1970. Geometry

I have taught geometry at Fairleigh Dickinson University for several semesters. I am also very familiar with the subject by practice. I used geometry as a tool in research in the field of integrated circuit design at IBM. The field of integrated circuit design is greatly influenced by geometry due to the dependence of the optimum circuit layout on two and three dimensional shapes

Linear Algebra

I have taught MATH 1104 Linear Algebra at Fairleigh Dickinson University for several semesters. I am also very familiar with the subject by practice. I used linear algebra as a tool in research in the field of microelectronics, at IBM and Rutgers University, to solve linear equations in n unknowns to achieve n- and p- MOS device designs which meet required performance/reliability trade-off.

Physics

I have taught physics at New Jersey Institute of Technology and Rutgers University as part of several courses such as Semiconductor device physics, MOS devices, VLSI Technology, Microelectronics Processing, and Physical Electronics during the period 2005 to 2014. I am also very familiar with the subject by practice. My field of specialization at IBM and Rutgers University is semiconductor device design requiring a very strong background in physics to enable the optimization of semiconductor device characteristics required in the field of microelectronics scaling.

Precalculus

I have taught pre-calculus and calculus at Fairleigh Dickinson University for several semesters. I am also very familiar with the subject by practice. I used calculus and pre-calculus as a tool in research in the field of microelectronics, at IBM and Rutgers University, to solve linear equations in n unknowns to achieve n- and p- MOS device designs which meet required performance/reliability trade-off.

Trigonometry

I have taught trigonometry at a university for several semesters. I have also tutored trigonometry to several students both in high school and college.
