I am a passionate tri-linguist and registered nurse with a comprehensive understanding of childhood development and adult psychology. These crucial skills allow me to better address students’ challenges while learning a second language. I am adept at evaluating different learning styles and personalities and I adjust my teaching methods according to their needs and skills. In addition, I understand a multitude of teaching techniques (ie, visual, auditive, writing, reading, singing, playing, etc.) and will apply those which are of interest to the individual. As a Native of France and longtime resident of NJ, I understand the various facets and nuances of the English and French languages such as pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency, and the origin of words. I am also well versed in French culture, history, and literature. Having such an extensive knowledge of both languages enables me to easily adjust my lesson plans according to my student’s reactions or unplanned homework assignments, without notice. In all my lessons, I emphasize conversational skills and encourage my students to feel comfortable engaging in a dialogue, regardless of their abilities.
I am experienced in tutoring students of all ages and backgrounds. My students range from pre-school age who are building the foundations of a second language, to high school and college students working to complete their classes (ie, according to school curriculum, TEF exams, etc.) and even to adults preparing to travel on business trips. I work to ensure my students enjoy their lesson and understand it well. I take extra time to explain the material in a relatable manner so the student will remember and further their knowledge of the language.
I am patient, fun, energetic, and eager to transmit my love of languages to others.
A bientôt de vous connaître!

Very dedicated. She was able to get my son to brush up on a lot of concepts right before his exam. She went through a crash course with him, must have been tiring for her as well. My son loved her. He did very well on the exam, despite the fact that he did not know much before Ms Martine showed up as his savior.
Martine was timely and friendly. She established a wonderful repoire with my teenage son. Increasing both his enjoyment and confidence in French. Great start to the new school year!
We are so fortunate to have Madam Martine as our children's teacher. She is patient, experienced, engaging and simply excellent. Teaching a foreign language is a difficult task. Madam Martine is one of the very few who knows just the right methodology to teach to achieve results. We are very grateful to her.
Martine is excellent. Of course she is a master of the French language, but she is also a good, patient, flexible teacher. She is great all around, from helping with pronunciation and fluent speaking to teaching reading and grammar to correcting written essays.
Martine is the best tutor anybody can have for French. She is a complete "Guru" on the subject and teaches just fantastically !!
Before leaving for a trip to France, I wanted to become more comfortable with my speaking skills. Martine is the perfect instructor. She explains the many rules and exceptions to the rules in a clear manner. She is most encouraging and kind and I truly enjoyed our sessions.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
