I am a 25 plus year veteran teacher. I have taught my entire career in the same school and subject (math) and just recently moved from 7th grade to 6th grade. I have taught 7th grade level math and am presently teaching grade level math at the 6th grade level. I also taught a 7th grade accelerated Pre-Algebra class and am teaching a 6th grade double accelerated Pre-Algebra class.
The best indication of my success as a teacher is the comments I received from parents at the end of the school year. For example: “When I told people that my daughter had been moved into your class, without exception every parent mentioned what a fabulous teacher you are. Well I too am now a fan and will be a cheerleader of yours like the rest of them!”.
In my 25 plus years of teaching math I have experience with many different programs and topics. In my years in 7th grade I have taught Finite Math, Geometry and Probability in my grade level classes. I have taught Pre-Algebra in my advanced classes. Presently I am teaching 6th grade where I teach the same subjects only on a slightly lower level.
My 25 plus years of math teaching gives me the background and experience necessary to be an excellent tutor. I have worked one-on-one and in small groups throughout my teaching career. This individualized attention includes working with struggling students, as well as, advanced students. My extensive interaction with students both academically and as a coach enables me to connect with my students. I am a 25 plus year veteran teacher. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
