About Lori

Achieving Success.....Individual Instruction + Experience = Proven Result

As a reading specialist, and a special educator, I strive to learn what every student needs, and how to meet the needs of each of my students. I begin with gaining the trust with each student I work with, and we journey together to gain the essential skills needed to be successful in today's society. I have extensive experience working with challenging behaviors, and consistently work with the students who are in the need of the most interventions. I consistently seek out new and innovative methods to reach my students and consider myself a student who is always learning the many different elements of literacy! I am a dynamic, creative, resourceful reading specialist with over a decade of classroom experience who is well accomplished with the best practices of balanced literacy which encompasses formative and sumative assessments., differentiated student instruction, which is multi-sensory, sequential, systematic and has proven success with readers. I have assisted many students to become more confident in reading, writing and spelling. I consider it to be a wonderful gift, to teach a child, not just to learn to read, but to want to, and ultimately, love to read.

I have extension training in Orton Gillingham, the most research based methodology for teaching dyslexic students. I am certified as a Elementary Specialist of Phonics First. I am well versed with the Common Core Standards, PARCC, and the Reading and Writing Workshop. I have attended workshop at Columbia University, and received my Master of Arts, in Education at Fairleigh Dickinson University with a certification as a reading specialist as well as a supervisor. I am certified as both a special educator teacher as well as a general education teacher.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
