Atlantic Cape Community College (Liberal Arts)
Hello! I am a local from the Absecon area. At first, my first interest was to become an architect, but what I noticed after some time was that I enjoyed helping others in regards to education. I am currently studying to become an educator for the elementary/middle school grade level. What made me have such a change of direction was that I am currently discerning whether the priesthood is for me. What's uniquely similar to the priesthood and the profession of an educator is that they both share a passion to teach others.
My passion comes from the fact that I wish to see others succeed in the career path that suits to their desire. Since the state requires that students have to pass certain courses in mathematics in order to progress further into their career choice, my mission is to ensure that students not only memorize the material, but understand the material. Unfortunately, many public schools prepare students for tests without fully making sure that the students truly comprehend what they are studying. I used to attend the engineering career path at Atlantic County Institute of Technology which focuses heavily on math. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
