Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a competent educator who believes that learning is a lifetime endevor. I have taught 5 years of Elementary Education in Pleasantville, NJ and have recently obtained my Masters in Special Education. I teach high school special education in Pittsgrove Twp. NJ.

Public Speaking

I come from a family of Educators and am an Educator myself. I believe myself to be a proficient public speaker as I have taught either Language Arts, Basic Skills and Health/PE for a total of 9 years. I also have experience coaching of Soccer and Basketball in my town. I am a teacher Religious Education and organized, then led the local Seton Singles in my town. I feel quite confident as a public speaker and hope my qualifications to assist in a speaking engagement are sufficient.

Special Needs

I am a certfied Elementary and Special Education Teacher. My experience includes working as a substitue teacher for three years at the Atlantic County Special Services School, as a one-on-one aide to an autistic student, a 3rd and 4th grade maternity leave special education teacher and a high school special education teacher (2009-present). I also have tutored two special education students in my home. My teaching methods are proactive and patient.

Study Skills

As a special needs teacher I have to make sure my students are focused and physically attentive to me prior to an effective learning experience. The learning strategies I employ to get students focused revolve around being prepared with materials regularly. I have experience guiding high school students with proper study habits, such as timing, for test such as the ACCUPLACER or the GED.
