Richard Stockton College of New Jersey (Physics)
My name is John and I have taught science in NJ public high schools for the past 3 years. I have my certification in Physics and have achieved passing scores on the Praxis Exam in Chemistry and General Science as well. Courses I have taught include General Physical Science and Physics. I have a Bachelor of Science in Physics with a minor in Mathematics from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. I scored a 1390 on the general GRE exam - 720 on the English portion (98th percentile) and 670 on the Math portion (63rd percentile).
I have been tutoring since I was a sophmore in college. I have tutored algebra, trigonometry, calculus, general science, chemistry, and physics.
I take great pride in helping students improve their understanding and mastery of the material. My approach is friendly and casual but I take my work seriously and genuinely love helping people learn about mathematics and science.

John is an awesome tutor. He has been extremely patient with me and deserves a medal for putting up with my hate/fear of mathematics. He has been very helpful to my daughter and I, and, now, we both are confident we will do better on the SAT, because of John's knowledge, great tutoring skills, patience and being able to break down the mathematical questions and concepts, so we know how to solve them quickly and accurately.
John P. is the best tutor I have had the experience of working with. Knowledgeable in all mathematics subjects, patient and thoroughly explains problems to ensure the student completely understands and can move forward working independently.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have tutored students in the TEAS before, and have had success in helping them. Although I've not taken the test, I am very familiar with it, and it bears some resemblance to the Praxis test which I took to become a certified teacher in the state of New Jersey. I also think my high scores in both the SAT and the GRE make me well suited to tutor the TEAS.
John P. passed a background check on 9/16/14. The check was ordered by John through First Advantage. For more information, please review the background check information page.
After sending a message to John, you will be able to order a new background check for $7.99. As part of your tutor selection process, we encourage you to run updated background checks. Please also review the safety tips for hiring tutors.
