I am currently teaching Mandarin Chinese in Southern New Hampshire University. I was a Chinese language teacher in a University of China, from 1999 until I immigrated to the United States in 2013.
I am not only a native Chinese speaker, but also was a university teacher who teaches the future teachers how to teach Chinese as a foreign language, at the same time, I taught Mandarin to the native speakers, non-native speakers and foreigners.
My major is Chinese language teaching. I am an...

After a Full School Year - Twice a Week - We highly recommend
My daughter studied with Zhihui L. for the 2016-2017 School year. They met twice a week for an hour for the whole school year. This one-on-one instruction cost about the same as we had paid for classes at University of New Hampshire Manchester, which were not one-on-one, took many breaks, and the second year met just once a week. My 15 year old daughter had completed all that was offered at UNH Manchester and VLACS, and finding that St. Anselm and SNHU didn't offer any levels beyond what she had done at UNHM we started with Zhihui L. She and my daughter got along great. While my daughter has days were she just doesn't feel like doing some of her other schoolwork, she never wanted to skip Mandarin. I never had to nag. Some days when I was not around to give her a ride, she took the city bus herself. She wasn't going to miss her Mandarin lesson. Zhihui L. was always there. I think that there was one occasion when the weather was bad and she couldn't make it, but she gave us plenty of notice. I don't think we were planning on going either. She is very reliable. May daughter says that overall she feels she learned more in a year with Zhihui then she did in a year at UNHM. They covered a full books worth of material (1/2 of one book then 1/2 of the next) In two years at UNHM they covered 1 and 1/2 of the same programs books. My daughter says this was because the other students and UNHM didn't really work very hard and they had to do a lot of review. My daughter is going to a summer camp this summer that will have lots of Mandarin speakers. I think that she will be able to get along well with them. It would be great if the schools in NH taught Mandarin. But we're glad we found Zhihui L. We are moving to Massachusetts so we won't be working with her next year. If we were staying, we would definitely have continued on with her until my daughter graduated from High School.

Good balance of challenge and success
Excellent lessons and Zhihui has great ideas for improving learning skills for my son. Zhihui discussed ideas about improving by reviewing in various ways— such as having an oral conversation , making flash cards and online review.

Adaptable tutor
We have only had two tutoring sessions so far with Zhihui. Based on those two lessons, I appreciate how she adapts the lessons to our specific needs. She is very friendly, gives positive criticism, and gives us weekly homework assignments.
