I am trained as a Special Education Case Manager and also as an Elementary Educator. I have a MEd also in Early Childhood from Bridgewater State. As a Special Education Case Manager I spend most of my day tutoring students or groups of students in the classroom. I have 40 hours in training in LindaMood Bell Phonics and am trained in the Wilson Reading Program. I have access to texts in both of these programs. I am able to tutor Math Their Way in grades 1-3. I am interested in working with students who are invested in their learning. I have experience modifying curriculum for children with Learning Disabilities and ADHD.
Last year I worked as Literacy Coach in the Middle School. I am fluent in teaching reading and writing, stressing vocabulary development and understanding paragraph construction. To be a good writer, a student needs to be a good reader with interesting life experience. I am trained in techniques for paragraph and essay writing. Janis has been tutoring my nephew who has a language and learning disability. The school he attends is using the Wilson Reading System which was a criteria in the tutor we hired. Janis has been working with my nephew for three months now and the progress and improvement made is amazing. Janis is not only extremely capable to teach reading and language, she also cares very much about her students. And I cannot say how pleased with are with her and her commitment to helping my nephew. And by the way, he is crazy about her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Masters Degree and a K-12 Certification in New Hampshire in Special Education. I have ten years experience as a Special Education Case Manager modifying curriculum for and instructing students with ADD/ADHD.
I am a certified General Education teacher in the state of New Hampshire. I currently hold a teacher's certificate valid from 2011 to 2014 for the instruction of students in general education.
I have 40 hours of Linda Mood Bell instruction (Spring 2010) as well as 40 hours in Wilson Reading (Summer 2006).
I have 60 hours of training in the Wilson Reading Program as well as 40 hours of training in the Lindamood-Bell Phonics program. I am a certified Elementary and Special Education teacher, with experience in whole language reading programs, as well as specific decoding instruction. I have experience with the Rebecca Sitton spelling program as well.
