Bucknell University (Mechanical Engineer)
I hold an engineering degree from Bucknell University. I was a Teaching Assistant for 2 years and taught an art class for at least 3 years while I was at Bucknell. I also volunteered as a math tutor for a little while. I try to keep things fun and instructional. I think that tutoring takes a sense of humor and a willingness to acknowledge that we are learning together. It is the part of the student to grow. It is my part to help present the material in different ways so that I can help them grow. No one likes change it's frustrating and difficult but if you want to learn then it's a real part of the process. It is my sincere desire to help you learn the material and build your skills for independent learning.

My daughter was close to failing 7th grade math with a low grade on her final report card. I tried to help her, but my approach didn't work as I was impatient. I was reluctant in hiring a tutor, but I gave Andrew a try. He was accommodating in coming to my house for his math lessons with my daughter. Although I did not want to interfere with the lessons, I couldn't help but overhear some of the tutoring. He has great patience and a very good approach to understanding the problems my daughter had with learning math. He not only taught math, but he also changed the way my daughter approached problem solving.
As my daughter completed her first quarter of the 8th grade, she received an A in math. My opinion of anything has always been based on results and Andrew has earned my respect. Thank you Andrew.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
