University of New Hampshire ( cum laude) (BIological Studies)
My name is Alicia, I am a biology teacher in a Nashua High School looking to help struggling students outside of school. I live in scenic New Boston with my wonderful husband, and animals! I started my life outside of college as a medical laboratory professional, working second shift in one of New Hampshires biggest hospitals, The Elliot. While I was very good at my job, and still help out on occasion when they need some backup, I hated working there. While in school to get my degree, I worked as a preschool teacher for years. There was never a day that I said to myself working there that I did not want to go to work, so I took my praxis, got into a school system and am working on getting my alternative certification.
I currently work at Nashua High School North as a 10th grade Biology teacher. I absolutely love it! I have finally found my niche! I also currently tutor a few of my husband's Fire Lieutenants' children with their biology/life science classes in school, and figured why not give it a try for real! I have helped these kids greatly, including his direct lieutenant's daughter bring her grade from a C in her AP Biology class to a wonderful 94! I like to figure out the child's learning style and adjust my plans to their needs. I have a plethora of books to use as resources, and love to do fun labs to reinforce learning. I always have my phone on me, so I am never far away! Hello,

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
This is something I hope to teach along with Biology next year. I do teach basic Anatomy in my current class.
I currently teach this subject, and this is what I got my degree in.
This is one of the units I teach in my Biology class. I also took two courses on Ecology in college.
One of the units I teach during the year is all on genetics. I also took two different genetics courses while earning my degree.
I have a passion for Microbiology, this was my concentration in college, and I furthered my skills with this working in a hospital laboratory.
