University of Rhode Island (Speech Pathology)
I have my B.S. degree in Speech Pathology. I have worked in public school systems for several years, at the Elementary level. Currently, I am a paraprofessional in Intensive Needs for 2nd grade students.
Common Core is the curriculum used in the classroom I am in. Also, using manipulatives for learning. On a personal level, I am familiar with Common Core, as a parent of a 4th and 6th grader. I enjoy working with students and seeing their growth in areas of learning.
Being in the Elementary Schools, I am very familiar with the curriculum for this age group.
Having a background in Speech Pathology, I am qualified to assist children in the phonetic pronunciation of written language.

Common Core is
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
