I am a highly qualified, NH and DE certified teacher of Middle school math (Pre-algebra - Algebra II and geometry), and Elementary subjects. I have taught multiple grade levels: primary, intermediate, middle school, high school and college. I have helped math students in the lowest 10 percentile nationwide make substantial gains, taking them from Tier III (0-10 percentile) to Tier II (10-25 percentile) and in some cases to Tier I (25 - 100 percentile) in a few months.
One of the main components I address is a student's academic confidence. I have the student monitor their success using a progress monitoring system. Students have responded positively to using their data. It shows them physical evidence of their effort and accomplishments.
I have been a successful elementary school teacher addressing reading in the classroom. I understand that students with reading challenges need to increase their phonetic awareness and find suitable high interest reading pieces in order to increase their ability and desire to read. I have a broad base of knowledge to help students construct written responses, essays and stories, which include work on grammar and mechanics.
My own son was a struggling reader, who is now proficient. I understand, first hand, the struggles a young student faces when they do not read on grade level, and how to address the student's needs to build confidence and reading skills.
I look forward to the opportunity to meet with you, and begin working with your child to increase their academic achievement.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
