I have been an educator for many years in and around New York City, but I will be moving to NH at the end of June in order to be close to my aging parents. I began my career teaching kindergarten, and observing the boundless curiosity and the obvious joy the students experienced when learning something new made me fall in love with the profession. After some years, the headmaster of the school asked me to become the math learning specialist for the elementary school (K-5) because he was impressed with my approach to teaching mathematics. I genuinely enjoyed teaching math at each grade level and decided to go back to school and get a Master's degree in Leadership in Mathematics. This lead me a few different settings, both elementary schools and middle schools, and I have had the opportunity to train teachers to help students make sense of mathematics. I have also written and adapted curriculum for grades (K-8) and I have worked with both small group and individual tutoring on remediation and enrichment. I have recently been told by a student that I helped her improve her math skills because I make math clear and not confusing.
If you are looking for a math tutor to help improve your math skills and make math clear, I am the tutor for you.
I have worked on remediation and enrichment at every grade level (K-8), so I know where you are coming from and where you are going, and I can help you move smoothly along the path. I have also written and adapted curriculum at each grade level and I have trained teachers to help students make sense of the math.
I have adapted curriculum to align with Common Core standards for grades (K-8)
While mathematics is my area of expertise, I have also been a general learning specialist supporting students in other subject areas, i.e. guided reading, spelling, social studies, science, etc.
Once again, if you are looking for a tutor that will help you make sense of mathematics, please contact me beginning at the end of June 2015. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
