Ever since I was a little girl, I loved to play teacher. I always enjoyed going to school, helping fellow students, and learning. I went to business school directly out of high school and began working in administrative roles that matched my studies. I always longed to be a teacher, but life took me on less traditional paths. I feel that in all of my roles as administrative assistant, business owner, assistant manager, coffee roastmaster, assistant teacher, sales representative, executive recruiter, after-school counselor, and most recently mental health counselor, I was/am always teaching.
I have also always respected the English language. It remains my 'favorite subject' and I have excelled. While others dreaded the monstrous long graduate school papers, I welcomed them. From spelling, to grammar, to punctuation and content, I find English fun! I also enjoy reading and want to share my love for the written word with others that may struggle or have difficulties understanding. Tutoring is the extension of my love for teaching. I have been in the helping field most of my adult life, and tutoring seems to be the next logical step.
Let's have fun learning! There is nothing more important than feeling good and enjoying yourself. Even when it may seem difficult or impossible at times, having someone to cheer you on and believe in you in priceless.
I will be as flexible with time as I can. I only require a 12-hour cancellation, so I hope that my request is reasonable and respected. Naturally, I want my clients to be satisfied, so I will gladly waive any fee if session is not up to the agreed standard. Makeup classes will be offered when necessary. I also welcome all feedback.
I look forward to helping you reach your goals. Thank you for your consideration.

I was an Executive Recruiter for many years in New York City. I combined counseling with interview prep, resume building, and matching job seekers to prospective employers.
When developing a career, an individual always benefits from a sounding board, networking, and asking for help. I find it important to never underestimate the paths you cross; the people we meet are always part of a bigger plan. Networking is a crucial pat of developing a career, and I emphasize this for myself and to others.
Additionally, Career Counseling was one of the courses that was included in my Mental Health Counseling master's program (2011 graduation).
During my master's program in Mental Health Counseling (graduated in 2011, part of my practicum was counseling a Brooklyn College student for a semester. It was so successful, the student asked if I might continue counseling for an additional semester. I was honored to continue for no additional course credit but rather for the experience, rapport building, and connecting with my client.
As a not-so-distant returning student, I understand the stresses, worries, and concerns students face in their efforts to succeed. While I did not utilize counseling at my college, I did seek outside counseling/mentoring/career counseling on my own. It was a vital part of my decision-making and choosing a career path.
Most importantly, I love helping people. I am very good at helping set goals and finding strategic ways to reach them. I am solution-focused!
I scored 100% on my WyzAnt English test. I am an avid reader and writer. I am currently coaching and mentoring my 19-year-old niece's work as she pursues a writing career. I also read with her, proofread her work independently, and am her official editor.
I attended business school directly out of high school. From proper grammar usage, to punctuation, to sentence structure; these skills are invaluable. I am a an excellent speller and can spot a typo a mile away!
I have taken several writing classes over the years and have always maintained a 4.0 GPA in English-related subjects. Iam versed in MLA writing style. Between 2007-2011, while studying psychology in undergraduate and graduate school, I was required to write several papers using APA style.
Because I love English so much, I do very well maintaining my own high-standards. I have found various 'fun' ways of learning, e.g. scrabble, word games. Several teachers have informed me of their students increased aptitude for spelling, reading, and grammar, when these children had participated in my After-School curriculum.
I make learning fun!
I have a Master's Degree and love learning. Working with children is the most rewarding work of all.
English has always been my strong suit. I love the written word and take it seriously. Spelling and vocabulary are important to me, and I pride myself on my skills.
English was always my strong suit. I love writing, reading, spelling, and grammar. I even married an English major! Words are important and powerful, and I have a true respect for our language.
