It is an amazing thing to learn a new language as it broadens your horizon and allows you to learn a new culture, it makes the learning process so much better when you can experience a new culture with help of a native speaker, such as myself. Born and raised in Russia, graduated from Tyumen State University with excellence, I had a privilege to teach foreign languages at the same University. Having lived in the US for nearly 7 years and learning American culture I am convinced once again the best way to learn a new language is to try to submerge into it fully. Hence my method is to minimize boring translation back and forth but rather to start communicating from lesson one, practicing on real life samples. I will be sure to determine the areas of social, professional and cultural aspects that you are interested in the most to help you succeed faster, keep up your interest with every class and help you speak, write and understand the language in no time.

I haven't been good about feedback on all of my lessons, but Anna has been extremely patient with my fragmented knowledge of the Russian language from college classes 20 years ago. She is clearly putting in some effort between sessions to come up with material appropriate to my knowledge level, and never appears frustrated with my progress.
I have been working with Anna for a while now, and out of the numerous teachers I have had in my life, she is one of the few who have recognized where I am in my studies, and has taken her time to customize training for me. Having this interpersonal approach in tutoring has bolstered my learning significantly. I work full time, and despite the constant curve balls and setbacks I throw at her, she always has a game plan for getting me back on track. Thank you, Anna!
Anna is a very knowledgeable and creative tutor. She finds new ways to challenge my abilities and get me to integrate what I know with new material that I should learn. She prompts me well in our sessions, and with her help, I have identified areas on which I need to focus in order to take my Russian to the next level. Since I was struggling to figure out where to focus, I think this has been a very important step. In every session, Anna adjusts to me, without dumbing down the lesson or her expectations. This helps me shore up areas of difficulty without relying on areas where I am comfortable. I can't recommend her highly enough. If you want to do some well-chosen work, and are serious about learning Russian, she is the tutor for you.
I am probably the slowest learner of languages out there but Anna has been very patient and has made me feel more comfortable during the learning process.
She has her own instruction style which allows you to get familiar with the alphabet and parts of speech and shows you how to use them in conversational Russian right from the start.
Since I require a great deal of repetition before I am comfortable with anything new, she has made sure to balance the right amount of homework, review of past lessons and offers many helpful tips to retain more than I currently do.
Every small success I have is a reward unto itself. Anna seizes that success and builds off of it in a way that will make things instantly clearer and gives me a bit more confidence to tackle the next lesson.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
