As an educator I feel that with a little help and guidance every student can be successful. It is important that students know that there is nothing wrong with getting a little extra attention and the benefits can be very rewarding. I feel that it is important for children not to feel that tutoring is a punishment but just a chance for them to get ahead. My personal philosophy is that learning should be fun, whether in the classroom or in a tutoring environment. Personally, I have tutored Beginning Reading, Academic Reading, Math, Algebra, and Study Skills. I have an Elementary Education Degree and I am Highly Qualified in the state of New Hampshire, I also have worked in the field of Special Education for the last three years. I feel very confident working with all types of students and I believe that if you treat them with respect and consideration they will do the same.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a Highly Qualified NH educator. I have taught various grade levels ranging from prekindergarten to seventh grade. I currently work in Manchester NH within the special education department and I plan to add my special education certification within the next year. I believe that with a little support and motivation that every child can be successful and feel good about themselves.
On a daily basis working with special education students I work with them to organize their materials and stay on task. We also focus on preparing for tests and learning how to chunk parts of their notes and materials so that it does not seem so overwhelming. My goal is that the student feels successful and with positive reinforcement and gentle reminders that they can eventually follow through and carry the skills with them throughout their education.
