My name is Kevin R., and I am currently an active math tutor. I have worked for the Manchester School District since the spring of 2011. I also have experience teaching full-time math and physics at Mount Royal Academy in Sunapee, NH. In my prior teaching and tutoring experiences, I have dealt with students who have ranged from Grade 4 to Grade 12.
I have worked for Club Z Tutoring and New England Tutors, having tutored students on both the elementary and high school levels. I have been praised for my teaching style and ability to explain things in ways that can be understood.
I strongly believe that all students should have their voices heard and be encouraged to make positive use of their talents and abilities. I am always willing to listen to my students with any honest and appropriate concerns. I have widely been considered a good teacher by my students and those who have observed me teach. I am looking to get more involved in direct tutoring for the upcoming school year, so feel free to contact me if you need help with any math-related material. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I enjoy everything about algebra, particular the application of multiple variables. I've helped various students during my time tutoring with Club Z and Sylvan Learning Center. As far as tutoring methods are concerned, I encourage students to utilize actual numbers with practical applications.
I passed the AP Calculus exam in 2000. I taught a Pre-Calculus class in 2012-2013. I enjoy the rules involved in finding derivatives and integrals of a function.
I taught a geometry class during the 2012-2013 school year. I enjoy the application of the rules applying for angles, triangles, and quadrilaterals. In particular, the Pythagorean Theorem has practical application on all levels of math.
I tutored a student in Pre-Calculus during the spring of 2012. His grades improved substantially, and we have remained on good terms ever since. I used the exact same textbook when teaching this course at Mount Royal Academy the following year.
From my past year with Kaplan, I have had firsthand experience in teaching SAT Math. I fully understand all of the changes that have taken place over the years. I also tutored a student under the prior format in the past.
