Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADHD

As part of my special education training and certification, I have learned many strategies for working with students with ADD/ADHD. In 9 years as a special education teacher, I have worked with many students who face these challenges. Students with attention deficit disorder need a teacher and/or tutor who is patient and has experience in differentiated learning styles.

Dyslexia

I hold a Master's degree in Specific Learning Disabilities as well as a certification as a Reading/Writing Specialist. I have 9 years of experience as a special education teacher/case manager at the elementary and middle school level. My primary focus has been on students with reading based learning disabilities. I am certified in a variety of intervention based reading programs including Orton-Gillingham (a year-long certification program), The Wilson Reading Program, and SPIRE Reading Program.

Elementary (K-6th)

I currently hold NH certification in elementary education (K-8th). I have more than 10 years of experience working with students ranging from kindergarten all the way up to 7th and 8th grade. The majority of my experience however, has been with students in K-4 classrooms.

Phonics

I am certified in Orton-Gillingham reading. I hold a Master's Degree as a Reading/Writing Specialist from Rivier University. I am also certified in Wilson Reading and SPIRE Reading, which are curriculum intended for students requiring reading intervention.
