About Rebecca

I have experience teaching for more than 30 years part time as I worked full time applying what I teach in industry. I have a Master's in Electrical Engineering which is math, physics, and logic intensive.

I also have a BS, which required learning computer programming in general. I know several languages such C, C++, C#, Java, Python, Perl, and many more. I taught languages such as Perl, and recently Python. In my career as a systems engineer, I used several languages but I also taught junior programmers languages such as Fortan, C, and many more. In my MSEE, I focused on computer engineering as part of my electrical engineering curriculum.

I also have a great deal of programming which utilizes the subjects I teach. And I have helped many in my life to learn something that they would be struggling with. In my past and current teaching career, I help people who are no longer employed, learn the skills to get back into the workforce and many have. I have taught kids (including my own), adults, elderly, professionals, any one asking for help.

I simply love to teach. I am passionate about it. I believe teaching is a '2-way' street as the teacher learns from the student as well in order to learn to teach the student better. Each student is an individual with different needs, ways of learning, and one must understand this about them to teach them most effectively. That is why tutoring is so wonderful because you can focus on the individual.

I did raise 5 children and taught them well. They are all successful. One was actually Aspergers and I learned a lot. He is now a successful Chef - his love. In closing, I think everyone should have the opportunity to learn with ease and enjoy. A good teacher makes that happen.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Computer Programming

I have a Master's in Electrical Engineering which is math, physics, and logic intensive. I also have a BS, which required learning computer programming in general. I know several languages such C, C++, C#, Java, Python, Perl, and many more. I taught languages such as Perl, and recently Python. In my career as a systems engineer, I used several languages but I also taught junior programmers languages such as Fortan, C, and many more. In my MSEE, I focused on computer engineering as part of my electrical engineering curriculum.

Graphic Design

In my undergrad studies all engineers are required to graphic design. I have a Master's in Electrical Engineering which is math, physics, and logic intensive. I also have a BS, which required learning computer programming in general. I excelled with an A. That was before computer graphics. I think in 3D. I do a lot of contests using computer tools, mainly the free tool Gimp.
I do a lot of illustrations using 2D and 3D manipulation, texturing, everything. These are in my published books: covers and children's book illustrations: Duck Dillon Quacks the Case.
I also studied and was employed in all kinds of jobs in the image processing and computer vision.

Logic

I have a Master's in Electrical Engineering which is math, physics, and logic intensive. I also have a BS, which required learning computer programming in general. Assuming this is like Digital logic, I had lots of classes in my BSEE and more in the MSEE, and used it a lot in my career as an engineer. Doing software engineering, logic is common use.
Logic (AND, OR, NOT, XOR, etcetera) are in almost everything application such as excel, access, lots.

MATLAB

I have a Master's in Electrical Engineering which is math, physics, and logic intensive. I also have a BS, which required learning computer programming in general. I have more than 10 years of using Matlab in industry. I taught Matlab. I wrote complex programs and built user interfaces. I know who to use Matlab as a programming tool as well as a tool from their user interface.

Microsoft Access

I have a Master's in Electrical Engineering which is math, physics, and logic intensive. I also have a BS, which required learning computer programming in general. And I have used access before at work along with other database tools such as mysql. I just finished teaching access2010 at John Mason Institute. I know database design principles very well. I used a visual of database organization show key components learned in class: tables, relationship, keys, normalization, and more.

Python

I have a Master's in Electrical Engineering which is math, physics, and logic intensive. I also have a BS, which required learning computer programming in general. And I just taught Python. I know many languages including Python which are similar scripting languages such as Perl. I know RegEx which is key ingredient to these languages. I've written Python programs to use for my class as labs.
