Keene State College (Elementary Education and Psychology)
My name is Amy, I am a graduate of Keene State College where I received a degree in elementary education (K-8) and psychology. I currently have my elementary education certificate and my statement of eligibility in general special education. This past year I worked as a special education academic instructor, where I tutored and taught children primarily in math and writing. I taught grades one through five in this position.
I have a very diverse educational background and can easily adapt and teach any student I may come across. I absolutely love making tutoring a fun experience that students love, and incorporate many hands on lessons and games. I always push my students to their full potentials, and it definitely shows through various progress monitoring and data collection that I take. I am positive that any child I work with will increase their knowledge of a given subject!
I have worked as a special education academic instructor, where my focus was on math. All my students had tremendous growth this past year, and many of their classroom teachers have complimented me on how much improvement they have seen.
This past year I worked with three students focusing directly on their grammar and writing skills. Grammar can be a hard thing to learn, so I take things slowly and make sure my students fully grasp a given subject before I move on. I often play grammar centered games to further students learning of a given grammar topic.
I have worked with common core since I was graduated college in 2011. I am very familiar with how the common core works, and how to be sure students are learning those topics related to the common core.
I have so many skills that make me an awesome tutor. Just to name a few I am; organized, fun, outing, patient, use different approaches to learning, have great time management skills, and best of all, I love seeing my students learn and improve!
I know that sometimes being tutored can be a drag, but I am positive that I can make tutoring something that students will learn to love. My students tell me on a daily basis that they cannot wait to come and see me for their tutoring, because I do make learning fun! Hi,

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified for this because I am certified in elementary education (k-8). I have also used common core standards when planning lessons, as well as planning out students IEP goals and objectives.
I am qualified to tutor in Elementary k-8, because I have a Bachelor's degree from Keene State College in Elementary Education (k-8). I also have my teaching certification for grades K-8 as well. In the past six years I have worked as a; substitute teacher, paraprofessional, title 1 teacher, and a special education teacher.
I am qualified to teach study skills for students as I can give them new ways to study in which they may have never thought to do. I can easily give students fun and effective ways to study and learn new information. Study skills include; flash cards, "you" be the teacher, games such as math and vocabulary jenga, matching games, and memory.
