Currently, I am a postdoctoral research associate at Dartmouth. I received my PhD in political science from UNC. I have taught a range of undergraduate courses including: Introduction to U.S. government (Fall 2017), and Quantitative Research in Political Science (Spring 2018). Teaching Approach:
To me teaching is a calling, as opposed to merely a job. Needless to say, I am very passionate about teaching and helping students improve. I take an individualized approach to each student. I try to figure out what works best for them. I believe in focusing on developing lasting understanding of concepts involved, rather than memorizing. Knowing WHY something is the case makes a subject a lot easier (not to mention more fun).

Knowledgeable and patient

We went through a homework assignment in R. We covered the subset() and tapply() functions, barplot arguments, compared means for different vectors, and talked about the difference between vectors and variables. Serge is a great teacher!

Knowledgeable and wants to help.

I am new to R coding and analysis and had difficulty on one of the assignments. Serge looked at my code and made recommendations to assist me. My course is a Data Science class that jumped into R on day 1. He has been extremely helpful in getting me up to speed and I am much more comfortable with it now.
