BA (Political Science)
It would be fair to say that teaching is a family business. My mom, dad, 2 cousins and myself have all been teachers. I love to teach others about the world we live in, be it through science, history, math or English. I understand how frustrating it is not to achieve a goal you have set for yourself. When I was in third grade I had a lisp and couldn't read at grade level. I will always be indebted to the wonderful teacher I had as a child and feel that I owe them a debt that I can never pay back.
As a teacher of General Special Education for 9 years I taught every core subject to students that had learning disabilities. In that time I learned how to approach each student as an individual and not in some cookie cutter way. Appealing to the strengths of the individual I had great success in helping my students attain their goals, be it just graduating from High School or going on to a 2 or 4 year college program. Over the years many of those students came back to me for after hours tutoring.
I am patient, and enjoy teaching with a smile, a joke, and a no stress atmosphere. Anything can be accomplished with the right attitude. I hope to be able to help you in your endeavors.
When I get board I balance quadratic equations. Math was always my weakest subject until I became a senior in High School, it just clicked. Their no secret to success in Math, except don't panic!
Took Physics in High School, and College. I still follow the field in my off time reading.
I have been doing public speaking all my life, I have been a corporate trainer for RadioShack, Adelphia Cable and Time Warner Cable. All of these positions require the ability to speak in public and have a good time doing it.
I have worked as a Windows trainer since the days of Windows 3.1. I am also a beta tester for Microsoft so I always get to learn the new software before the general public.
I carried a History minor in College and was only 4 credit hours short of a duel major, between American History and Political Science.
I look forward to speaking to you, learning should be a fun pursuit. One of my favorite quotes is Never Give Up, Never Give In! We will, as a team, reach your goal!
