I have been tutoring students in basic reading, math, spelling, and test preparation since I was in second grade. Teaching is a strong part of who I am. I have worked with learning disabled youth and adults for most of my life and enjoy helping others learn. My college degrees were in broadcast communications and sociology, with minors in psychology and music. I returned to school for a masters in addictions counseling with a specialization in children and adolescents because I was working with middle and high school drop-outs. I have also tutored adult learners and have written books on topics of forestry, logging, and wildlife for that population. I again returned to school to obtain a masters in environmental studies and am currently writing my dissertation on a tree disease in New Hampshire. I spent many years working with grades 4-7 to teach them radio skills--writing, speaking, performance, etc, and miss not having the time to do that right now. During the 20+ years I taught at the college level, I tried to combine marketable skills with academic so that my students would be better positioned to obtain internships and employment while in and after school.

I am able to adjust my lessons to meet the needs of each student and look forward to helping learners reach their goals. I have taught individually, in the classroom, and online. Students thank me decades later for my help. I'd love for you to be one of them! Please feel free to contact me with questions or to schedule a lesson.

I am an advanced master gardener in New Hampshire who specializes in native plants and wildlife gardens but has much experience with ornamental plants and invasive species. I have a masters degree and am completing a doctorate in environmental studies where I've spent several years learning about the ecology of New Hampshire. My children's books are about nature, including the plants and wildlife.

I have been teaching reading and writing since I was in second grade. I have been training people in public broadcasting since I was 16. I have a good grasp on speaking and writing in a way that most people can understand (even those who don't speak English as their native language). Between my work at the adult tutorial program and in various schools and colleges, reading was always the main focus.

I am always eager to meet new students and help them achieve their goals: whether to read the book that inspired their favorite movie or learn how to fill out a job application. We are all here to help each other through Life, and I am dedicated to helping my students succeed. I would like to help make your journey a little easier by giving you some of my learning secrets. Please contact me if you have any questions. I check my email often and look forward to meeting you!

I love plants! I have over 200 garden beds on my property and garden specifically for birds and wildlife habitat. I understand the balance between native, naturalized, and invasive species and their effects on the sustainability of a healthy garden, ecosystem, and landscape. My dissertation research is on the economically-important white pine and the gooseberry and currant shrubs that support a disease that kills the pine, and the struggle we experience in order to grow the berries for food and the trees for timber products.
