I am an MFA fiction writing candidate at The University of New Hampshire. For the last two semesters, I have instructed the on-campus undergraduate course, First Year Writing. I am passionate about education. My primary goal in teaching is to foster personal and academic growth in my students. With rapid advancements in technology, education is taking new and exciting steps toward becoming more accessible. I have experienced this first hand as both a student and a teacher. Before university, I completed three online continuing education writing courses. I gave and received rich feedback and edits from my teachers and classmates. That's when I realized how important technology is to the future of outreach education.
As a volunteer position, I am co-founder and current chair of the Art Club at Moharimet Elementary School. It is the school's largest club with over 75 members. I am creative developer and head director on all projects. Colleagues know me as an organized, creative instructor and a trustworthy, dependable editor. I work well alone as an editor, reader, and writer, but am at my best when I am able to help others grow academically. I am on track to graduate from The University of New Hampshire in December of this year, and hold a BA in Psychology from Southern Illinois University. I am currently teaching yoga and freelance writing, and can be reached through this profile for tutoring.
I am the mother of two boys, ages 8 and 13. I am a certified yoga instructor and have taught yoga for 6 years. I have experience teaching art to middle schoolers, Writing and English to freshman undergraduate students, and of course, helping my own children with their homework on a continual basis. For over a year, I tutored a woman (age range 25-35) with developmental disabilities as she pursued and earned her license to become a nail technician.
I have a study space set up in my house in the Oyster River School District in New Hampshire, but am comfortable traveling to meet you or your child.
