I’m excited to be back in New Hampshire after having spent the last five years working toward a Ph.D. at the University of Colorado at Boulder. I’m excited now to work with students in the area as a tutor as I finish up my program and graduate next May.
I studied English literature and philosophy as an undergraduate before earning a Master’s degree in English teaching. I’ve taught English at a local high school and to high school students participating in an Upward Bound program. I moved across the country to pursue a Ph.D. at the University of Colorado. There I have studied education, especially education policy, curriculum studies, and philosophical issues in education. I’m particularly interested in questions about equality, opportunity, and schooling in this country. In Colorado I taught thirteen sections of an undergraduate course called “School and Society,” which introduces students to schooling in our democratic society.
Please note that my tutoring fee is negotiable. I’ll do my best to meet you at a price that works for you. I understand that many of us work very hard to get by and don’t have much extra money at hand. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
