About Angela

Hello!

A busy mom of two, I have currently chosen to take the year off from public school teaching to spend extra time with my sons.

Prior to this hiatus, I was working as a middle school reading teacher (grades 6-8) for two years. In this position I taught reading fundamentals based on the principles of Keys to Literacy and Read Naturally to both large and small class sizes, including two 4-to-1 intervention blocks for struggling readers. 95% of my middle school students raised their reading levels by at least one grade level and improved their reading times by an average of 45 seconds per minute.

Before teaching reading, I worked for five years at various elementary schools and a high school as a Special Ed Teaching Assistant. I worked in these positions while earning my MED and each school year was its own wonderful learning experience and opportunity for growth. I was able to work with amazing mentors and acquire hands-on training working with Special Ed students (specifically those with processing concerns, emotional/behavioral disabilities and dyslexia).

In addition, I previously co-owned a tutoring service in North Easton, MA before moving back to New Hampshire. There I offered one on one services to students in a variety of subjects, including reading, math, foreign language, history and science.

Thank you in advance for considering me in your tutoring search. I look forward to meeting your child and aiding in his/her academic successes.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Dyslexia

I earned my MED in Reading Education from Endicott College in 2012. I have two years' experience teaching middle school reading, including small-class instruction for struggling readers (including students with dyslexia). As a Special Ed Teaching Assistant I also worked with dyslexic students on a daily basis to assist them in meeting their IEP goals.
