Hello! My name is Maddy, and I have just completed my first year at the University of Oxford. I am currently obtaining my Masters of Chemistry, but have experience tutoring in other sciences and math. I am a very determined and motivated student, and I know I can use my persistence to help students achieve their academic goals. I graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2018 from high school, with distinctions in Math, Science, and the Humanities.
I am an experienced tutor, as I served as a peer tutor throughout my time in high school. I usually help others by answering specific questions or working through a challenging topic or problems. However, if a student wishes for more guidance, I am happy to help plan a curriculum to reach specific aims. I know that with persistence, any subject can be conquered. My primary goal in tutoring is to give students the confidence they need to realize their academic potential.
I am a very experienced math student and am qualified to help a student in the following courses: Prealgebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Precalculus, Calculus I, Calculus II, Multivariable Calculus, and Linear Algebra. Moreover, I earned an 800 on the math portion of the SAT, and scored a 780 on the Math II SAT subject test and therefore can help a student prepare for these exams. The key to achieving mastery in math is practice, and I have experience helping students achieve understanding by guiding them through repeated practice and helping them correct any errors.
Though I have always loved math and science, my true passion is chemistry. I hope to convey my love of the science to my students. I recently passed my first year examinations with a prize in practical chemistry and greatly look forward to my second year. As a first year, I studied a broad range of chemistry, including Physical, Organic and Inorganic - and can thus help a student learn a wide range of topics. I can also help students prepare specifically for the Chemistry SAT subject test, as I sat the examination and earned a 770.
Thank you so
