About Matthew

I have enjoyed 21 years working with Special Needs students at all educational levels both at public and private institutions. I have extensive experience as a case coordinator and resource room teacher, working on behavior management with learning disabled students in varied settings at all grade levels.

I have specialized training for students with behavior issues and have experience working with students over a wide range of disabilities (i.e. behavior, emotional, processing disorders, and physical disabilities). I enjoy working one-on-one with students and developing trusting relationships while implementing IEP modifications appropriately and creatively.

I bring a positive attitude and upbeat influence to my students and seek out their strengths to help them learn the best strategies to compensate for their disabilities. I strive to maintain open communication with parents to work collaboratively on the students’ behalf. I enjoy working with children of all ages and customizing my teaching style to each student's individual personality and needs.

I welcome communication from parents and students about any tutoring needs or questions. My goal is to help my students strengthen their skills and succeed!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Special Needs

I have been a trained and certified special education teacher for 21 years working with students of all ages, from kindergarten through high school. I work with students with a variety of disabilities, including emotional, learning, behavioral, autism spectrum, and
physical disabilities.
