About Mahboub

I received my Ph.D. degree in mathematics in 2008 from Virginia Tech. I am currently an Associate Professor of mathematics at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) since fall 2014. I have been a tenure-track assistant professor in the department of mathematics at UNO since fall 2008.

I have more than ten years of teaching experience. I received the Kerrigan Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (Annual award to recognize excellence in teaching) in April 2014. Since I have been at UNO, I have taught many different undergraduate and graduate courses (calculus I, II, III, applied linear algebra, differential equations, numerical methods, PDEs,...). I have made many efforts to improve the design and place of these courses within our curriculum; including employing many innovative teaching techniques. As a teacher of mathematics, I have had the pleasure of learning how to explain mathematical concepts in different ways. I have the two qualities absolutely necessary to be an effective teacher of mathematics: a love for math and a desire to share my enthusiasm with others.

For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
