University of Nebraska at Omaha (Aviation)
Hello my name is Thomas. I am 20 years old, currently enrolled at UNO with a little over a year before I graduate with an Aviation Professional Flight degree. I have grown up here in Omaha and am looking to give back to the community, starting with anyone that I can reach out and help. I am a very laid back kind of person, but also have a burning desire to provide what knowledge I have to younger kids who may be struggling.
There are a few main areas of tutoring that I would love to teach and those include Mathematics, Beginning Guitar, Fitness/Overall Health, Golf, and of course Aviation. With my degree being in Aviation and me working towards becoming a Flight Instructor in the next year and a half, I have a large amount of information for anyone that might be interested. With regard to Math, it was easily my favorite subject growing up. The highest Math class that I took was Calculus, back as a Senior in High School, but I am looking to tutor more on the algebra and trigonometry side. Moving next to Beginner Guitar, I started playing when I was 13 years old. I took lessons for about 8 months when I started, but the rest I taught myself. I still play pretty religiously to this day and would be happy to get someone else started and pointed in the right direction. Next thing that I would love to tutor in is Fitness/Overall Health. I grew up playing sports all of my life and am accustom to the hard working team effort that comes with sports. I am currently not in any sports right now, but I do lift weights and do some form of cardio 5-6 days a week. I eat right and have a good amount of knowledge on how and what to eat to help bring back energy and give you the nutrition you need every day. Finally, I would love to get with someone looking to get better at the crazy game of Golf. I have played golf since I was about 10 years old, never competed in my golf career, but have the knowledge to get a new player out and hitting the ball better than most people starting out.
My tutoring method is very visual and interactive. I am a type of person that learns by doing and I know a lot of people can say the same. My goal if I am given the opportunity to teach would be for the student to visualize the problem at hand and look past the fact that it's just a math problem on paper, or a musical note on a scale. I try and take those subjects and make them relevant to the students own life to help them connect with the subject differently than they had in the past. I am excited to tutor and help students learn a new skill or just think differently about life in general. Thank you! Hello my name is Thomas. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
