Is your child struggling to understand math? Do you need individual assistance to help prepare you for your upcoming ACT or SAT tests? If so, then I can help. I have several years of experience in assisting students understand math concepts and developing study habits and test taking strategies to maximize their test scores.
I have an undergraduate degree in math and criminal justice and have completed graduate course work as well. However, more important than my education, is my approach to tutoring. I believe that the most important quality a tutor can bring to the lesson is the patience to allow the student to comprehend the material and discover that they can indeed learn. Some of my favorite moments are when students discover that they are capable of "doing math".
Beyond assisting students in learning the immediate subject, I am a firm believer that the best tutors help students learn how to learn. Every student learns in their own unique way. However there are methods that students can use to maximize their learning potential. In addition, there are test taking strategies that will help a student get the best grade they are capable of on a test. Is your child struggling to understand math? Kate is a wonderful tutor! Each time we've met she has been able to identify key concepts for my daughter to work on during the week, in order to increase her SAT test scores. Kate is patient and has a gift for engaging and teaching the student how to work through problems.
Kate is not only a very patient and knowledgeable tutor, but she is also flexible in meeting the needs of my son. We have used her for ACT prep for all 3 of our kids. I would highly recommend her.
Not very attentive, took days to get a response back. Kate did not bring any material (flashcards, test, or a asvab study book) I had to bring my own and she is not really proficient at ASVAB tutoring, Also runs a few minutes late.
I am sorry that you were not satisfied. I wish you would have relayed your expectations for flashcards and other items in our first complimentary meeting when we discussed our plan for preparing you for your next ASVAB test. I also apologize for being a few minutes late. However, I thought you understood that was the result of my allowing you to reschedule our lesson within an hour of the start time that day. When I allow a student this flexibility, it is with the understanding that I am juggling my schedule for that day to meet their needs.
Kate is always patient, encouraging and obviously cares for her students. She has such a calm, positive outlook on things and that attitude is passed on to the student as well.
Our daughter has never been a big fan of doing math, but after her third session with Kate, she came to us and said she actually gets excited for it now. Thanks Kate. You're doing great!
Kate knows her subject(s) matter very well and has a way to convey the concepts for the student to understand. She instills a great deal of confidence in the learner.
I have extensive knowledge and experience in both Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel. I have built databases with my work and structured queries.
Having completed my bachelor's degree as well as graduate courses, I have learned over the course of my education effective and ineffective ways to study. Study skills need to be tailored to fit the students learning style for effective learning.
