Hi! I went to school for history, but I really enjoyed math and helping children and peers to understand math better.
I received my undergraduate degree from St. Lawrence University, where I majored in history and double minored in math and music.
While in college, I was a math and reading tutor in various local elementary schools, working with grades K-6. I also was a peer tutor, helping other undergraduate students with math (calculus, logic, GRE prep) and history. During the summers, I was a camp counselor at Campus Kids, New Jersey, where I was a bunk counselor for 11-year-old girls as well as an activity counselor for boys and girls 8-16 in subjects such as jewelry making and intro guitar. I enjoy sharing knowledge outside of formal education, and my career path has led me to museum education. I have worked at several different museums where I gave tours, led summer camps, taught school programs, and designed and presented outreach activities. During graduate school, I tutored math in the local middle school.
I am an excellent student and that helps me to be a great tutor. Hi! I went to school for history, but I really enjoyed math and helping children and peers to understand math better.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
