Hello! I am a newly retired nurse with 42 years experience in the medical-surgical and ICU fields. I spent most of my floor nursing in ICU trauma. I have taught nursing for 20 years and miss it terribly! My passion is teaching and students have consistently told me that I can make "things so much easier to understand." I was voted one of the top 10 nurses in Nebraska.
Strategies I use when tutoring a student is first, find out exactly what "problems" the student may be having with a particular topic. From there, I use many different teaching strategies such as pictures, cheat sheets, funny phrases, songs, etc to help students understand and remember the concepts. One component of my philosophy of teaching is: If I can increase your confidence, then I can increase your competence." I believe there is no such thing as a "dumb question." The more questions a students asks, the more engaged they are in learning. I believe in challenging student to correlate existing knowledge with new knowledge. I have been told many many times throughout my teaching career that I have a "talent" for making tough subjects/concepts much easier to understand. I have a passion for teaching and my Masters in Nursing focused on teaching the Adult Learner.

As a nurse, I have a great deal of knowledge about the human body: it's anatomy and physiology. I have taught Pharmacology for 14 years and have some simple, and silly ways to help you remember medications. Case studies are utilized that allow the student to apply recently learning information into a real life scenario.

I have a very broad base of nursing experience and can make subjects and nursing concepts easy to understand. I develop case studies that incorporate many nursing concepts that increase student critical thinking skills.

My passion has always been teaching! I love to watch the students face when some concept or disease they have been struggling to learn finally make sense to them! The student is always the focus and I am here to assist them in any
