For many years, I have loved making hand-made items. I have created many pieces in counted cross stitch, crewel, and embroidery. I also knit and crochet. I am always interested in learning more about these crafts and would love to help someone get started on what can become a life-long joy-filled activity!

I have taught theatre to students of all ages, from Kindergarten through adult. I have taught classes, directed productions, led seminars and workshops, and taught individuals. I also developed the theater department for a large local church in Omaha, NE, which involved such things as: overseeing several teams, leading workshops, and training and directing actors and leaders. Since that time, I have directed other productions as well, and have continued writing, speaking and acting.

One of my favorite opportunities involving coaching competitive Speech, Debate and Acting teams. Several of the students I coached went to the National level of competition, and all of my students did very well.

I am a firm believer in a phonetic approach to reading and writing, and have such methods as the Spalding Method and others like it to teach reading, spelling and writing. I am currently tutoring using the STEPS (Sequential Teaching of Explicit Phonics and Spelling) Program, which incorporates the phonagrams used by the Spalding Method and expands on that teaching.

I begin with an assessment of reading comprehension, reading fluency, and vocabulary. Once a general reading level is determined, work is begun with a goal to raise all levels of reading. Great handwriting tutor

Randi M. was my son's tutor in handwriting. My high school age son has always been cyber-schooled and rarely had a need to pick up a pencil but as he was getting older, I saw that he was self-conscious about writing because he struggled with speed and fluency when forming his letters with a pencil. He had no knowledge of cursive at all so writing his signature was a struggle. Randy spent several weeks with him and he is much more confident in his writing abilities and can write cursive fluently. He is not self-conscious when expressing himself through writing and feels much more prepared for his future. So much thanks to Randi!
