I am an Educator with experience in Middle School and High School subjects. I am not good at Math. I have worked with young people since I was in High School myself. I have been a 4-H leader, Girl Scout leader, and when I was employed in different schools I was the sponsor for different groups such as: Yearbook, cheerleaders, Honor Society, and Student Council.
I enjoy working with young people who enjoy learning. I have used different approaches to learning with my students. We all learn differently and I try to adapt the learning so the student can do their personal best every time they work on a subject. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught Career Development classes and have been a Guidance Counselor who worked with students trying to find their interests. I have used whatever materials were available through the school system as well as having them take interest inventories to find out their skill levels and interests.

Study skills help anyone who is trying to learn. Each of us learns in a different way and when we learn different types of study skills it will help each of us to know how to best go about learning a particular subject. Note taking is good for the learner who is hands on, while not so good for the learner who learns better when they hear about a subject. There is also the visual learner who remembers better if they can see the specific thing they are learning. I have helped my students in all three areas.
