Biology, Chemistry and the study of different inter-connected disciplines arising from them has remained my passion since an early age. The basic principles of these fields apply to our living world, making it interesting and helping us understand ourselves and our surroundings better. To me these subjects are enjoyable to explore since they are closely linked with different aspects of our daily lives.
Growing up in India, I was fascinated by the discipline of Life Sciences. When I finished high school I knew that my higher education would be in this field. With this aim in mind I earned a BS in Biology with Zoology as my major concentration and Botany and Chemistry as minors. Possessed with a strong foundation in the basics of Science, I decided to pursue a research track and enrolled in a Masters program with special focus on Cell Molecular Biology and Genetics. After successfully completing my MS degree I prepared for a National level entrance exam (NET) to become eligible to earn a fellowship and get enrolled in PhD program offered by the highly prestigious research laboratories across the nation.
Upon successfully qualifying in the NET exam, I was accepted into the PhD program at the Indian Institute of Chemical Biology. Here my focus of research was in the field of Neurobiology. My dissertation work was geared towards understanding the role of thyroid hormone on a specific protein expression and how it affects brain development. Once I completed my PhD successfully with peer reviewed publications, I looked for further research opportunities. This brought me to United States on a post-Doctoral research fellowship.
Over the next few years, I had the opportunity to work on several interesting research projects dealing with Alzheimer's disease, Autism, Brain tumor, and Schizophrenia at several different research institutes and Universities such as Mount Sinai School of Medicine (New York City), Ohio State University (Columbus), and University of Nebraska Medical Center (Omaha). While I was conducting research at UNMC I got the opportunity to visit Midland University in Fremont, NE, as a guest lecturer and directly interacted with undergraduate Biology students. In time, apart from my regular research conferences, I started attending different conferences and seminars linked with undergraduate teaching. I found that the unique fulfillment of a teaching career was highly stimulating and rewarding since I was meeting students from different avenues of life and I could see how teaching different science subjects to these students was making a big impact towards their future aspirations.
As a result of those moments I decided to delve more into teaching and helping students shape their future. In the past two years, at three different institutions, I have taught undergraduate courses such as Introductory Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Developmental Biology. With my extensive background I am able to help students with their high school and college level Chemistry and Biology needs at both basic and advanced levels. Also, for undergraduate and master's students, I can teach Genetics, Cell and Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, Immunology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Pharmacology, among others. Are you having trouble with your High School homework or College assignments? Are you having trouble understanding certain concepts of Math (High school only), Biology and Science? Are you looking for a caring and professional teacher with the depth of knowledge and experience to help you achieve your full potential?

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
