University of Phoenix (Elementary Education)
I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, and my passion is to empower and encourage my students. I was a volunteer tutor with the Black Child Development Institute of Greensboro during the 2012-2013 school year, and I very much enjoyed working with my second grade student. I provided one on one assistance in studies of core subjects, maintained learning materials and resources, conferred with parent on a regular basis to provide updates and attain feedback, and I monitored the student’s performance and created lesson plans that contributed to the Individual Education Program. I have also worked with students from Kindergarten to third grade.
My goal is to maximize the student's full potential which will in-turn result in noticeable improvements in grades. My methods include being patient, open communication with the student and parent, and making sure the lessons are interactive and fun. Every student learns in their own way, so I make sure the lessons I provide are differentiated to meet the student's learning style and keeps them engaged. I also keep up with the state standards, so the student gets everything they need out of the lessons.
I do have a 24 hour cancellation policy, but any missed session can be rescheduled.
I look forward to hearing from you and working together to reach a common goal! She helped me with organizing and planning my work. We worked on science, math, and social studies. Overall it was a good experience and helped me with school a lot.
She let her know what she needs to work on. She's helping build her confidence. She makes her feel comfortable.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taken multiple courses on time management and organization and I can relate this information to students to help enhance the learning process. I can show them notetaking techniques that will optimize the information they take-in and contribute to better results on tests. I can also teach them what to avoid that interfere with good study habits.
