I believe that it is important for a tutor to be able to match the needs of the student and his or her own learning styles. When students are taught using a learning style that gives the student the best understanding of the material, then that student is more likely to succeed in grasping the material being covered. It is also important for me, that the student feels comfortable with a tutor. I am generally laid back and am very personable with students and their parents. I also feel that as a tutor it is important for me to not only help the student exceed in school, but to help them exceed in their life after school.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have tutored several students in test prep from PSAT to GRE and ASVAB.
I have take two college courses regarding elementary math and numbers theory. This involves the study of fundamentals of mathematics, the foundation for all mathematics. I have also personally studied extensively basic math techniques to better assist those students who have gaps in their mathematics education.
I am certified to teach k-6 math in NC. I currently work at a local school within Forsyth County.
I have previously studied for and taken 5 different Praxis exams from ETS. The first test is made up of a Math, Reading, and Writing section. I also had to take separate math and history exams for the second Praxis exam. Finally, I took the Principals of Learning Teaching for middle school grades. All exams were passed on first attempt. Though, I would be more than capable of teaching for various levels of the Praxis, I will only accept tutoring clients who need assistance with the math portions of the Praxis Series.
