The teaching experience I have was informal as I was asked to guest lecture at Cape fear Community College years ago. The subject was technical illustration principals.
My primary interest in teaching is to teach art, specifically drawing and painting. Although my degree from UNC Chapel Hill is in Communications, I studied at Ringling College of Art and design and at Pratt Institute with high marks at each. Also, I studied at two ateliers, one in Chicago under Bruno Surdo and another in Southern Pines under Jeffrey Mims.
I would also love to tutor students who struggle with English as it incorporates a logic system that, when decoded, makes effective use of the language much more enjoyable. One's ability to articulate is paramount. I have certain gifts, and I love to share. One is my skill at rendering something on a 2-dimensional surface and creating an illusion of three dimensions. Another is sufficient familiarity with the constructs of the English language to practice effective elocution. Finally, I possess good interpersonal skills and most people warm right up to me! Thank you :)
I know the language, and I have a natural ability to teach. Learning how to see is the key to learning representational art, and I know this trick. It's called binocular disparity, and I can show you how to use it to best hone your drawing skills.
You will find that I am very approachable and accommodating. Please do not hesitate to contact me, and allow me to field your questions. We'll make it fun while working hard!
