Bio

I have spent the past seven years aiding students in achieving their mathematical goals by helping them develop skills, understand concepts, gain confidence, and form an appreciation for math. Throughout that time, I have taught elementary, middle, and high school math in traditional classroom settings, volunteered in a Montessori school where I witnessed the educational benefits of hands-on math lessons, and catered to the learning needs of individual students in tutoring sessions.

I love to work one-on-one with students so that I can figure out what each student's strengths are and help him/her understand math in a way that fits his/her unique learning style best. As a teacher, I always aimed to differentiate instruction for students of all abilities and skill levels, but I have found that working with students individually provides me with an opportunity to meet their needs in a way that is not always possible in a classroom setting. I enjoy watching learners who need more of a challenge advance at a faster pace and grow in their passion for math just as much as I enjoy witnessing the excitement that comes when students who have been struggling with a concept finally make sense of it and realize that math isn't so bad after all.

As an undergraduate student, I majored in mathematics and concentrated in elementary and middle school education. During that time, I also began working at my school's academic support center as a math tutor for other college students. I enjoyed explaining concepts to students in new ways and seeing them benefit from a different type of instruction. Once I received my teaching license and began teaching elementary, middle, and high school math classes, I continued to tutor individual students who felt they could benefit from additional instruction. Many of these students needed assistance in order to keep up with their classmates but some were looking to advance beyond their peers. All of them found positive results and gained more confidence through the process. Not long after receiving my bachelor's degree, I continued studying to earn my master's degree in the Art of Teaching Mathematics. My education combined with my experience has allowed me to be a successful tutor for students of all ages and skill levels.

If you are a student looking for someone to help you advance mathematically, whether you need someone patient who will understand your learning style and present concepts to you in a new way or you are looking for someone to challenge you more and help you get further ahead, then I would encourage you to contact me and I will be happy to give you more information. I would love to help you reach your math goals!
