University of North Carolina Wilmington (Elementary Education)
I am a senior at UNCW studying elementary education. In just a few short months, I will be a licensed teacher and complete my internship semester. Right now, I am working in a fifth grade classroom as a student teacher, however I do have experience in all elementary grades. My favorite subjects are reading and writing, however I would be happy to help out with any schoolwork necessary. I am so excited for my career as a teacher, and I look forward to any opportunity that will familiarize me with elementary curriculum and students.
In addition to my teaching licensure, I am pursuing licensure in English as a second language education. I speak Spanish and have experience working with English language learner students both abroad and domestically. I enjoy small group work with English language learners and do hope to begin a career in this field.
Every student will reach the age where their parents can't help them with their math homework anymore. We all get rusty, and certain skills become obsolete as we move forward in our education and lives in general. As someone studying to be an elementary school teacher, becoming familiar with the content is one of my main responsibilities. I am up to date on common core requirements and familiar with new tips and tricks to help students be successful. I have ample access to classroom resources for learning and practice.
My favorite subjects in school have always surrounded writing and reading. I find it most rewarding when students find a book they enjoy and can elaborate on the themes and literary elements within the text. In the few years I have been studying to be a teacher, my main focus has been ESL education. I have worked hard to ensure that I have experience working with students from all backgrounds so that I can be a learner myself.
I do speak Spanish very well, however I was once a student myself. I learned a lot of my Spanish skills in school, and have studied the language extensively in college. I have experience helping second language students of all ages with Spanish development and would love to do so on a consistent basis for new students.
I look forward to any opportunity that will help me gain useful experience for my career and share my teacher wisdom with students! I am a senior at UNCW studying elementary education. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
