About Caroline

I was born and raised in France, in Paris, to French parents. I studied at the Sorbonne University Paris IV where I specialized in Women's Studies and was trained as a teacher. I hold a Master's degree from the Sorbonne. I obtained graduate degrees from Smith College.

I have multiple years of experience teaching French to children and adults. I have taught group classes as well as private classes. I have worked on translations of books, and assisted PhD applicants. When you hire me to teach French, you are guaranteed to have a teacher who is not only fluent, but also experienced and highly qualified. At our first meeting I will evaluate your level, and based on your goals, together we will set a study program that will put you on a successful path to speaking French. My goal is to teach you French, and to make you fall in love with this beautiful language.

Being French born, being trained to teach, and having taught French for multiple years to students of all ages has allowed me to identify the different learning styles of respective students, and to easily adapt my methods to help each student achieve their goals in a relaxing atmosphere.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I hold a Master's degree from the Sorbonne University and a graduate degree from Smith College. I have successfully taught Mathematics to children from 6 to 17 in a tutoring setting, including my own children. I focus on mastery of skills while sharing my passion for the fun of Mathematics.

Elementary (K-6th)

I hold a masters degree in English and North American studies, and received training as an educator while studying at the Sorbonne in Paris. I have taught French to elementary school children, and have tutored children individually. I am equally comfortable teaching Math as I am teaching English. I have homeschooled my children in all subjects from pre-k to high school senior classes. I tailor my teaching style to the needs of individual students in order to facilitate learning, and engage what I refer to as the "learning muscle".

French

I hold a masters degree from the Sorbonne Paris IV University.
I have taught private and group French classes. The classes ranged from basic introductory French to conversation and French cinema.

Handwriting

Having been educated in France, I learned cursive before learning script. My rigorous training allowed me to see the value of well formed letters. Handwriting should be a daily activity in elementary school. I provide students with daily exercises to improve form, fluency, and speed.

Homeschool

I hold a Masters degree in English and North American Studies. I attended the Sorbonne University and Smith College. I have extensive experience homeschooling. I personally homeschooled my 5 children from pre-K to high school senior classes. I homeschooled them in all topics including Math and sciences and French. I tailor my teaching methods to match the needs of the individual learners.

Phonics

Phonics are the foundations that strong readers are built on. I have used phonics to teach children to read as early as 4 years old, and put them on a path of active and enjoyable reading.
I hold a Master's Degree in English and North American studies. I have taught and tutored children and homeschooled my 5 children.
