About Edward

I am retired from Duke Energy/Progress energy. I have been in the Nuclear power industry for over 33 years. I have worked as an industrial instructor and was certified by INPO. I taught basic math, physics, nuclear physic, chemistry, industrial safety. I can provide a resume on request which goes into more details. I am more than qualified to teach all levels of math and science related topics. I enjoy teaching and have been trained in multi-generational instruction techniques.

My background is an undergrad degree in Health Science in which I worked as an Professor assistant teaching computer programming and Health physics. I graduated in 1977 and worked as a Nuclear Medical Instructor for several years before going to Georgia Tech in their Radiation therapy program for cancer treatments using linear accelerators and cobalt therapy units. I was recruited by Progress energy in 1982 to teach technicians in Raleigh on various topics which included Math, physics and Chemistry.
I have extensive experience in Instruction and can provide a resume of my experiences working for both Progress energy and Duke Power. I have also assisted Seniors on their Senior projects in High School. I am now retired from Duke Energy and available to provide tutoring for students in the science or math fields.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 2

I have over 30 years of experience teaching various math courses. I have a Master's degree in Physics and have taught adults in various science related courses.

Biostatistics

I have taken Statistics course in both undergrad and graduate school. I have develop classes and taught counting statistics for Progress/Duke energy for many years. At Georgia Tech I successfully pass a graduate course on Biostatistics and have lectured on various topics related to the subject. My background is an undergrad degree in Health Science in which I worked as an Professor assistant teaching computer programming and Health physics.

Finite Math

I have extensive background in the different areas of Math. My background includes the instruction of Algebra, Statistics, linear Algebra, Geometry and pre-calculus. I have taught adults for over 30 years. I have also ran a business that required spread sheets and business math.

Genetics

In both undergrad and grad school, I have taken several genetics class. My expertise is in Radiation Safety and have developed and taught Radiation Biological effects to the personnel at our Nuclear Sites. Many of the biological effect of radiation relates directly to genetics. My background is an undergrad degree in Health Science in which I worked as an Professor assistant teaching computer programming and Health physics.

Linear Algebra

My background is in physics, we use linear algebra to explain various points concerning speed, velocity and force. I have taken many undergrad and graduate course using this principle. Vectors are used to explain many principles in the Physics and engineering field. I am familiar with many of these principles and have used them in my classes. I am retired from Duke Energy/Progress energy. I have been in the Nuclear power industry for over 33 years. I have worked as an industrial instructor and was certified by INPO.

Macintosh

I am an Apple user. I have an IMac, iPad, iPhone, watch and apple laptop. I am familiar with the operating system and the use of apple apps and methods to properly control the system.

Microsoft Outlook
